Scarf Dyeing WorkshopBanner Making Workshops

Julia is set up to teach a variety of fiber art techniques in her home studio--from 1 to 10 students. Her workspace is also available to rent for a nominal fee by other artists and craftspeople wishing to hold small group activities. Contact Julia for details.

These are photos of a wax batik/silk dying workshop held on a cold and rainy Pacific Northwest day in November, 2006. This small group designed and dyed individual sets of 6 prayer flags to take home with them at the end of the day-long class. One student, a school teacher who lives on a sailboat in Seattle, had this to say about her first batik experience.

"Thank you so much for mailing my last prayer flag (and including fishing line--I would never have thought of that as a connector--so nicely transparent.) I thoroughly enjoyed the creative day at your warm house and under your gentle mentorship. I will definitely send you a picture of my flags on my boat. It is so dark and rainy right now, but I will look for an opportunity." In Appreciation, L.N.

Future workshops include a larger silk batik banner making class, a mask making class, and a gourd play day.
